Swem Terrace

William & Mary's Swem Library added a terrace at its front door to create an outdoor space for students to study and enjoy nature. The terrace transformed a side recess into a garden with seating, and provides the Library with an outdoor gathering space directly connected to Swem Quad. The terrace is designed to accommodate different groups and individuals with loose tables and chairs and a fountain as a focal point. With its implementation, activities in the library have a broader reach both figuratively and actually.
