INFO.

ISC4’s location at the east edge of Swem Quad provides the opportunity to restructure this side of the Quad, aligning the adjacent quad path with that of the redeveloped arts complex.

The new ISC4 terrace also creates one of the hardscape gathering areas with seating and shade trees called for in the Master Plan. The ISC4 site is a transition point between the natural topography of the ravines and plateaus that define the campus landscape.

The project brings the two together as the grade and plantings transition from the informality of the ravine to the formality of the quad.  The stepped walls of the design’s northwest edge create areas for all kinds of uses including outdoor learning.

Opportunities for different uses are expanded with the creation of the Hanging Gardens that provided different size areas for gathering.
